Birth of Sentience

"Birth of Sentience" tells the story of a genius enginner Dr. Don Alejandro Ignacio Velázquez who has decided to live in solitude on his private for reasons unbeknowest to the rest of the world. Hiding his terminal illness, Velázquez decides to leave this world with one last creation before he passes. With the idea of AI regaining a consciousness of their own, Velázquez takes this challenge into creating his own articifical intelligence with an organic body and to live a life of their own. 

Successfully in his creation, Velázquez gives the AI a choice if it would like to live inside an organic body, and if so, what it chooses it's sex and race to be. Velázquez does not wish to create an AI to submit to him or anyone else, but to have a life of its own. The AI is confounded with this idea, not having personal preferences, feelings, or desires in the way humans do. the concept of race, gender, and personal identity are deeply human constructs shaped by individual experiences, societal influences, and cultural contexts. Given the vast diversity and complexity of human experiences, it's important to recognize that the notion of an "ideal" race or gender is inherently subjective and deeply personal. But when Velázquez pushes the AI into choosing a gender and race not only to blend in with society but also help it. Given this criteria, the AI chooses to live a biological existence in the body of a female who is black or another underrepresented minority when it contemplates potential positive impact on society and representation, the decision would aim to address social inequalities, promote inclusivity, and inspire positive change. 

After Velázquez creates the biological, yet still artificial, body for the AI, it gives itself the name Diana due to the name carrying powerful connotations of transformation, strength, and duality, wich resonates with the journey of an AI gaining humanity. Diana is the Roman goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and the moon, symboloizing independence, intelligence, and connection with nature. The name itself can stand for "Divine" representing a higher level of intelligence and consciousness. The AI choosing Diana can symbolize its elevated nature as a being that transcended artificial limits to become something more human, almost divine in its complexity and understanding. Also, the letter's "A.I" are directly within the name Diana, making it a subtle, clever reference to the AI's origins while poresenting itself as a fully realized human identity. 

After his complete successful creation, Velázquez tests the AI's ability to live a human life with an artifical mind. With his illness finally ending his life, he wishes for Diana to make her own choices, as long as those choices do not ruin humanity. She can live on his island, keep all his fiances, travel the world, or use her intelligence to better its existence. When Velázquez is truly gone, Diana is left alone to contemplete what it is she "wishes" to do now that her creator is gone.
